Lovely Villa Rosa occupies a prime position in the sought-after residential area of Cala Llonga on the far shore of Mahon Harbour. The villa is air-conditioned, has a private swimming pool and four double/twin bedrooms.

Rosa is laid out over one floor; there are a dozen or so steps up to the entrance from the road. Patio doors from the pool terrace lead you into the bright and airy house, where you will find a large and comfortably furnished living room with air-conditioning, armchair and sofa and recently installed 55-inch flatscreen SMART TV (not the one pictured!) on which you can watch a number of English channels via the broadband wifi internet.

The kitchen features a small dining area with table and chairs, fitted kitchen units, oven/hob, fridge-freezer, microwave oven, Nespresso coffee machine, smoothy blender, dishwasher and a good complement of crockery, utensils and cooking equipment. There is also a washing machine.

There are four bedrooms, all of which are air-conditioned:

  • An ensuite bedroom with a king-size double bed, bathroom with bath-and-shower-over, wc, bidet and washbasin
  • An ensuite bedroom with a king-size double bed, bathroom with bath-and-shower-over, wc and washbasin
  • Two twin bedrooms, each with a pair of single beds

There is a third, separate bathroom with walk-in shower, wc, bidet and washbasin.

Outside there is a kidney-shaped private pool with roman-step access, approximately 7.5mx4.5m and with depth ranging between 0.95m and 1.7m. Around the pool terrace (which has retractable sunshades) there are dining tables and chairs to seat eight, as well as sunloungers and a large gas barbecue.

Because of Villa Rosa’s location in a residential area, a hire car is an absolute must. The beautiful beach of Cala Mesquida is a five-minute drive, and 10 minutes by car takes you across to Mahon harbourside and its plethora of bars and restaurants (or you can book the water taxi to whisk you to the other side of the harbour).

About Cala Llonga

Cala Llonga is a residential area (with some amenities) and you very much need a car here. Equipped with wheels you can be on the beach in five minutes, sitting at a fine harbourside restaurant in 10 minutes, or soaking up some culture at the historic La Mola fort in less than five minutes.

Cala Llonga boasts one of the island’s largest marinas, choc full of pleasure craft, and down by the water’s edge there’s a children’s playground. There’s also a hotel, the Calallonga Hotel Menorca, which has a bar and restaurant open to non-residents and which offers take-away food.

The nearest beach is the wonderfully unspoilt Sa Mesquida, just the other side of the main road and beyond the quaint fishing village of Mesquida. On the way there you will pass the superb clifftop fish restaurant Cap Roig, which is the closest eatery. From Mesquida you can pick up the Cami de Cavalls, the walking path which encircles the island’s magnificent coastline.

Fifteen minutes by car is the Es Grau nature reserve, with its wide horseshoe-shaped beach and shallow waters, not to mention its beachside café culture.

Mahon harbour is 10 minutes away by car, or it can be reached by the excellent Water Taxi Menorca. Home to superyachts, dozens of excellent bars and restaurants, a nightclub and even a casino. From here the bustling centre of Mahon’s old town is accessible by cliffside elevator. The island’s airport (and its nearby cluster of supermarkets) is an easy drive of 15-20 minutes.
