Waterside home with harbour views

5 bedrooms – sleeps 10/12 – 4 bathrooms – air-conditioning – ‘infinity’ private pool

Vista del Puerto is a beautiful contemporary, fully air-conditioned villa situated in the peaceful and sought-after area of Cala Rata/Sant Antoni, a 10-minute drive from popular Mahon harbour

Vista del Puerto commands fantastic views across Mahon harbour and is a five-minute drive from the small village of Mesquida and its beautiful, unpoiled sandy beach

The villa location & overview

The villa enjoys the most magnificent panoramic harbour views: there is always something to watch, including the stunning sunsets and boat activity. There is a public boat launching jetty just across the road from the villa, from which the Water Taxi can pick you up to take you to Es Castell or Mahon.

The villa is set over three levels of accommodation with the main level hosting the infinity pool and decked sunbathing areas. The decked terrace offers a terrific outdoor space from which to enjoy the views.

Living areas and pool deck

Entrance to the villa is via steps from the main road up to the living area comprising an open-plan living/kitchen area with floor-to-ceiling glass windows which fully open, concertina style, to open up the whole floor to the pool area. The living room is very comfortably furnished with sofas and chairs, coffee table, and large flat screen Smart TV. There is wifi internet access. The modern kitchen has oven/hob, microwave, two fridge freezers, a wine cooler and a dishwasher. It is fully equipped with all the necessary utensils for self catering. The long middle aisle has a breakfast bar. Also on this floor is a cloakroom with WC.

Upstairs accommodation

A wooden staircase leads up to four of the bedrooms. To the front of the villa are two double bedrooms, one with ensuite bathroom featuring a bath/separate shower and the other an ensuite with large walk-in shower. Both of these bedrooms have doors leading to a large sunbathing terrace furnished with quality rattan loungers. It’s a peaceful place to relax, read and take in the views.

To the rear there are two further double bedrooms, each with doors on to small private terraces to the side of the villa. These rooms share a full family bathroom with bath and overhead shower. All rooms have vented air-conditioning for both cool and hot air.

Downstairs accommodation

From the main level, a wooden staircase leads down to the lower floor, which offers a totally self-contained chill-out teenager or grandparent area. This very large room has two double beds and ensuite bathroom. There is also a sofa for relaxing. Patio doors open on to a small gravelled garden area. This level also has a utility room with washing machine, ceramic hob, fridge and microwave.

The teak decked area has a lovely infinity swimming pool with roman step access, as well as a separate hot tub. The deck is furnished with a dining table and chairs, sun loungers and lounging chairs. All outdoor furniture is very high quality and the views from this terrace are spectacular.

Beautiful furnishings

Everything about this villa has been tastefully designed using teak, slate, mares stone and high quality fittings and fixtures. We highly recommend the villa for a relaxing family holiday, but the number of steps, both interior and exterior, and the villa’s elevated position, make it unsuitable for families with small children, or for those with limited mobility. Early booking is recommended.

Location details

Cala Rata is a residential area (with some amenities) and you very much need a car here. Equipped with wheels you can be on the beach in five minutes, sitting at a fine harbourside restaurant in 10 minutes, or soaking up some culture at the historic La Mola fort in less than five minutes.

Nearby Cala Llonga boasts one of the island’s largest marinas, choc full of pleasure craft, and down by the water’s edge there’s a children’s playground. There’s also a hotel, the Calallonga Hotel Menorca, which has a bar and restaurant open to non-residents and which offers take-away food.

The nearest beach is the wonderfully unspoilt Sa Mesquida, just the other side of the main road and beyond the quaint fishing village of Mesquida. On the way there you will pass the superb clifftop fish restaurant Cap Roig, which is the closest eatery. From Mesquida you can pick up the Cami de Cavalls, the walking path which encircles the island’s magnificent coastline.

Fifteen minutes by car is the Es Grau nature reserve, with its wide horseshoe-shaped beach and shallow waters, not to mention its beachside café culture.

Mahon harbour is 10 minutes away by car, or it can be reached by the excellent Water Taxi Menorca. Home to superyachts, dozens of excellent bars and restaurants, a nightclub and even a casino. From here the bustling centre of Mahon’s old town is accessible by cliffside elevator. The island’s airport (and its nearby cluster of supermarkets) is an easy drive of 15-20 minutes.

Testimonials from recent renters

Having “villa holidayed” in Menorca for many years, this villa we have used for the last few years is the best. Great accommodation, well furnished and maintained, fantastic position with great views across the harbour, quiet, easy reach of Mahon and beaches. Martine who looks after the villa is always available for advice and support

This is 5-star accommodation with a wow factor! The villa itself is beautiful… luxurious furnishings and fittings and plenty of space for our group of 9. The outside space is gorgeous, comfortable chairs, dining area and sun loungers. The view takes your breath away. Just stunning and the photos can’t do it justice. We had car hire which we needed but were able to drive to the supermarket and airport in 10 minutes, the beaches are not much further. We all agreed this was worth it and have booked for 2 weeks next year. As ever, the professional service from Travel Menorca is perfect. Nick and Kay know all their villas really well. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them

Our family had a fabulous time. The villa is situated in the most wonderful location just 5 minutes drive outside Mahon and everything this lovely town has to offer – shops, lovely restaurants and any amenities you may need- such a pretty town! Our group of 9 had lots of space to spread out or be together having fun around the pool. Everything one needs from a vacation rental is on hand in this clean, well equipped, modern villa and the views are simply fantastic. We spent many a happy hour watching boats pass by and waved to those on board, more often than not, receiving a wave right back. The pool deck is the perfect spot at any time of day but comes into its own in the evening for drinks, dinner and good times with family. It certainly wouldn’t be easy for anyone with mobility issues as there are lots of steps but the hillside location on 4 levels made it very unique and afforded fantastic views and sunsets. Excellent & easy booking with Travel Menorca. We would absolutely love to return and would highly recommend

An amazing view, which we much enjoyed: watching the yachts and cruise liners sail by was great. The kitchen was very well equipped and beds comfy, which isn’t always the case in Menorca!

The six of us found the villa spacious and comfortable with every modern convenience. Superb location, stunning view and beautiful villa. As always Kay and Nick did not let us down. Highly recommended

We are home after a fantastic stay – the good was all of it and the bad is that my nine-year-old daughter was almost in tears because she had to leave. We loved it and will go back

What a beautiful villa. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay… It’s a beautiful place to watch the sun set!
