We loved every corner, every colour, every view and every sound of the ocean from this comfortable and enchanting cottage in Punta Prima. If you want to relax, unwind and recharge your batteries then this is the cottage to book for a holiday. In the evenings enjoy a glass of red wine and enjoy the reflections of the setting sun and silvery moon on the water. In the mornings go for a refreshing swim in the clear blue waters. The restaurants nearby can feed you meals of any choice, and as vegans we found every restaurant eager to please us. What a great holiday, and we will miss Nelson the visiting seagull who joined us for breakfast, lunch and supper.
Our family (my husband and I and two daughters age 12 & 14) had a wonderful week here. The cottage is a little piece of paradise at the end of Punta Prima beach. The view across the sea to the lighthouse on the Illa de L’Aire is magical. The cottage itself is delightful, immaculate and well thought out. There is enough space inside and then outside (where we spent most of our time) is a large covered terrace at the side and then a sunny terrace at the front looking out to the sea. The advantage of being located in Punta Prima is that you can easily walk to the supermarket, shops, market stalls, restaurants and main beach. Although it is a quiet resort, there were a few low key events in the evenings such as a Spanish horse display, a jazz band and pony rides which we could watch from just outside the cottage. Also the road is a pedestrian area most of the time so it was safe for the kids to go out on their own. The main beach is fine and the sea is good for swimming. There is a smaller, more rockier beach nearer the cottage which is good for snorkelling off. In the other direction from the cottage you can walk the Cami de Cavalls (coast path) or clamber over the rocks and go rock pooling. You can also hire canoes and access the sea beside the cottage.
Arrival at The Caseta is something pretty special – immediately the sea view and the lighthouse are on your doorstep which is beautiful but once inside the house you will fall in love all over again! The house itself is decorated in an extremely calming and sophisticated style with everything focused on the sea (which is outside the door!) and authentic pieces of furniture. It is completely immaculate. If you like people watching you will see everything from elderly couples to babies, fast asleep in their prams after an exhausting day on the beautiful white beach and playing in the gorgeous pure turquoise sea.
I’ve owned a house in Punta Prima for about 15 years, so I know the resort well. This year we decided to rent this cottage on the beach. We were not disappointed. They’ve done it beautifully and have thought of everything. What I like about the cottage in particular is that the proportions suit a summer holiday on the beach perfectly. Basically, you only ever go inside to cook or sleep. The rest of the time, you’re outside. And that’s when the vast terrace comes into its own. That’s not to say the house itself is cramped. Far from it. The sitting room is a good size and so are the two bedrooms. For a family of four, there’s more than enough room. But the best thing is being right on the beach. I cannot begin to describe how magical it is to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the Med gently lapping on the sandy beach just yards from the house. It is beyond perfect. Thank you for a holiday that’ll live with us for ever.
If you love beach holidays, you’ll love this cottage! The location was absolutely perfect for our family of four, with the beach literally on your back doorstep. The accommodation is very clean, beautifully decorated and has a lovely colour scheme throughout. You have views of the ocean from the lounge, kitchen and main bedroom window. It has a lovely covered dining terrace, with large table and the most amazing views of the ocean. I would highly recommend this property to rent. We were sad to leave, especially the children, we’ll miss listening to the ocean waves on a night, getting up first thing in the morning and having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the beach. You literally have everything you need on your doorstep and we are so looking forward to visiting again.
About Punta Prima
Punta Prima is a relatively small and tranquil resort with the most lovely white sand beach and turquoise waters. It has good snorkelling, rock pooling and swimming and there is a beachside bar/restaurant. Just across from the beach are a further half-dozen restaurants offering international and Mediterranean menus, a couple of supermarkets selling fresh bread and produce, an ATM, pharmacy, doctor’s surgery, hairdresser, and a bike hire shop. Twice a week there’s a street market with craft stalls. Everything you need is available but it’s a relaxed resort and not over-commercial. The view from Punta Prima beach, out over the Illa d l’Aire and its lighthouse, is one of the most beautiful in Menorca and there is plenty of scope for walking – the coastal Cami de Cavalls footpath runs through Punta Prima and you can stroll along the sea to the neighbouring resorts of Alcaufar and Binibeca; there is also a regular road train which runs between Punta Prima and Binibeca, passing along its route the Splash Sur Menorca waterpark. There is a good bus service from Punta Prima into the nearest town, Sant Lluis, and also to Menorca’s capital, Mahon. The airport is 20 minutes away by car
